"Marriage and Sword" is a typical historical romance with a strong female lead. According to Anime-Planet, it was written by Saha and drawn by Canaria. It has around 50 chapters and can be found on Tapas.
The plot:
The story follows a Korean girl who seems to have reincarnated into a broke noble family named Targael and now has to go through a marriage of convenience. The guy even pulls out a contract, so I thought it was going to be one of those stories. However, it's revealed that the girl is not a damsel in distress at all. In her previous life, she was a fencer, and the family she was born into has a talent for swords. She has inherited that talent and moonlighted as a mercenary, saving her future husband twice and making quite an impact. Although this is an Isekai story, other than mentioning it, there isn't any relevance to the plot.
It's more than just hide and seek
Although there is some fighting, this is purely a romance story. The author manages to introduce different characters and plot twists along the way to keep things interesting. Sex scenes are not skipped but are kept at a level where they will not fall under hentai. It's certainly mature but not hentai.
Male and female leads are typical
The female lead, Hergenes, has a confident side to her, which is a given since she is a war hero. She is also kind and loves her brother dearly. She uses her money from her mercenary work to fund her brother's education. He is smart, so it'll probably work out. She also has a knack for saving people and managing to make them her allies, which is typical for a female MC.
The male lead, Shaun, seemed like a jerk at first, but it turns out he had a dark past and issues with noble ladies and trusting favours without expecting anything in return. This is the main reason he falls for the dark-haired mercenary (who is actually the female lead in disguise) who saves him and stands by him. He's not bad and is very loyal to his wife and also protective.
Art is cute
The art is quite good, but the fight scenes become a bit of a mess with too many spinning sword slashes to avoid actual fighting. I guess it's fine since this is a romance story and not an action manhua. The dresses are cute, and both the female and male leads are cute, especially the female lead, who has some cute actions and poses that adds to her character.
Conclusion
As a romance manhwa, this is a good enough read. It's just something you can read and pass the time with. I won't say it's so good that it blew my mind, but it had a well-drawn cute female lead, and the male lead wasn't a total jerk. I'll give this a 3.5 out of 5.
